00-2, entitled all about thwumps, is the third level in Episode 00, the third level in the 00s column, and the third level overall.

Objects[]

Enemies[]

Walkthroughs[]

Method 1 (Safe & Easy)[]

Notice that the thwump will immediately fall as you begin the level. Wait there until the thwump almost reaches you, dodge to one side, and jump on top of the thwump (only the blue side is lethal). Ride it all the way up, and when you have almost reached the top, jump off to the left and get the doorswitch. Jump back to the column, get to the right side of the map (jump at the side of the center thwump to get it out of your way), and jump for the exit.

Method 2 (Speedrun)[]

00-2 (sr)

The moment you start, move to the right and jump between the first and second mines. Walljump up between the mines, jumping between the 4th and 5th mines for your second jump, between the 7th and 8th mines for your third jump, and between the 10th and 11th mines for the fourth and last jump. On the fourth jump, go over the left thwump and the left column to the left side of the map. As a visual aid, jump off the wall at all the points marked with large yellow dots.

Alternatively, you can use the thwump to ascend the middle column. Begin the same way with the first two walljumps, but after the second, head left to perform a walljump off the descending thwump. This requires precision timing, often within the range of one or two frames; it is extremely difficult to pull off. Go back to the right, jumping between the 8th and 9th mines, and then between the last two mines. At this point the route is the same as if you didn't use the thwump. For this route, use the first two yellow dots, then follow the dashed blue line and blue dots. The dot in mid-air is approximately where the thwump should be when you jump off it.

After jumping off the right column, keep pressing left and land on the platform with the exit key. After taking the exit key perform a corner shove (Do a wall jump next to the corner to propel yourself forward) to gain speed. Jump back towards the left column and aim for the corner of left corner of the column. If you hit the corner correctly, the corner should propel you upwards a little bit, enough for you to reach the right column. From the right column fall towards platform with the exit and enter it.

The most recent 0th on this map is still held by Kool-Aid, his demo being 345 frames. (It can be found in the link underneath the level thumbnail.) This route is pretty much an enhancement of the route mentioned in the second paragraph. Whereas the image shows you having to walljump from between the 8th and 9th mine to between the top two mines after walljumping off the thwump, the demo sees Kool skipping the latter mines, narrowly passing over the left column from just the single walljump. This is incredibly hard to do, and requires almost on-the-frame walljumping to achieve maximum height and distance in-flight.

Method 3 (Highscore)[]

00-2 (hs)

On your way past the left thwump, activate it by aiming your fall so that the ninja drops near the left side of the thwump. Hang on the left wall prior to hitting the floor so you don't die from gravity, get all the gold, and jump at the thwump which should have just reached the floor. Jump to it and off its left side, and land on top of it. Jump up the chute, land in the platform to the left and activate the doorswitch.

Jump back towards the left column, optionally performing a corner kick to improve your timing. Either way, get to the right side of the map, without activating the right thwump on your way down as you drop to the bottom. Hang on wall prior to hitting floor, get all the gold, and finally activate the thwump. Wait for it to come down the chute, and jump over it as soon as there is room. Jump your way up the chute, and the instant you hit open space again, jump for the exit. The fastest-ever time using this method is 111.200 by Mr_Lim, and his demo can be found in the link underneath the level thumbnail.

Method 4 (NEHS)[]

This level introduces you to one very common enemy, and one less common. I am talking about mines, and thwumps, respectively. Hopefully you've read about them.

To get out of the starting pit, you need to wait for the thwump to come down, then, just before it smashes you, jump on top of it. Remember, only one side is deadly—otherwise, it's simply a moving block. You can take advantage of this in later levels.

After you get to the top, simply jump over to the left side of the level, activate the terminal, and jump off of the ledge into a pit. Remember to wallslide to keep gravity from executing its wrath upon you. After you get the gold, use the "thwump-riding" technique to get back to the top of the pit. Then, simply jump to the eastern ledge of the starting pit, then leap onto the exit ledge, and exit.
