The map identification number (often simply map ID or map number) of a NUMA map is the unique number associated with that map in the NUMA database and is indicated in that map's URL. NUMA map URLs follow the format "http://www.nmaps.net/#", where # refers to the map ID of the map. Map IDs begin at 1 with the first submitted map and continue consecutively based on time of submission. Thus, the map ID of the latest NUMA map can be used as a rough indicator of how many maps there are in the NUMA database. Map IDs are also used in NReality to load maps directly from NUMA.

Some famous map IDs: 1, 1000, 6666, 100000 161051
