Speedrun is a gameplay mode implemented on NReality whereby the frame count is what matters as opposed to the Highscore timer. On this playing mode, the player aims to beat the levels and episodes as fast as possible, in the least amount of frames possible, and therefore, the gold pieces are ignored.
Speedrun history started on 2007, when NReality was released. A lot of highscorers took a shot at it, although with the time, the community started to split into HS players and SR players. Even though there are loads of players who play on both modes, each mode is dominated by a selection of players, usually dedicated to that mode. Although that has lately been changing.
At the start, the german beast xaelar, as usual, played through the whole 1000 levels on Speedrun mode, eventually attaining 628/1000 different level 0ths, but of course, NOT at the same time. lookatthis also kicked some asses owning almost 300 SR Level 0ths, not at the same time. So did Darkshadow1416, who reached almost 300 as well. However, not a lot of time was dedicated on these runs, and were therefore beaten later. As of 2012, xaelar owns a mere 40 SR 0ths, lat owns 6, and dark owns 13. A lot of other players also did a significant contribution to Speedrun mode in this first SR age, players like Gutland, clux, joe1284, ToeFaceKiller, Mr_Lim, Hendor, Analu, johnny_faneca, Fenneth, zapkt and WoC, all of them attaining a total of over 50 SR Level 0ths over the time, but obviously not at the same time. Again, most of these runs didn't last much since they were done on the first Speedrun era, and not much time was dedicated on them. As of 2012, around 750 0ths are owned by the few dominators of the mode, meanwhile only 250 0ths are still from neutral players or old highsorers.
As the community was splitting, some players kept playing hardcore on the Speedrun boards, and they would eventually dominate the Speedrun scene. At first, on 2008, kryX-orange came in the scene. As opossed to his HS runs, his SR runs are all Legit, since NReality is uncheatable. He started ammasing incredible amounts of sick 0ths, eventually reaching a milestone 400 SR Level 0ths at the same time and owning the top spot on 0th Rankings, which still stands as the biggest amount ever reached. As of September 2012, he still holds 140 of them.
On 2009, Kool-Aid surged and quickly became highly skilled. He started grabbing 0ths here and there rampagely, mostly from Metanet original levels, and dominated the scene. On 2010, he surpassed kryX-orange for 0th overall. He took a full year break on 2011, and on 2012 he came back an reached 200 SR 0ths. Ultimately, his goal is to reach 500 SR 0ths to beat kryX's achievement.
On 2010, an already experienced player decided to start a trip on Speedrun mode, he was called OutrightOJ. During 10-12, OOJ kept speedrunning and grabbing a bunch of 0ths, eventually reaching 300 SR Level 0ths by Summer. Currently, his count has been reduced to 260.
On Summer 2012, the mysterious player danielr came from nowhere and started a massive 0th-destroying rampage in which he attained 90 0ths in a couple months.
Apart from the big dominators, several other players have also made contribution to this mode leaderboards, like vankusss, EddyMataGallos, Izzy, swipenet, Meta_Ing, Raif, MiBeM, Oleary15, ska, trance, etc. This players, among with all old-timers from the first era, mentioned on the third paragraph, only own 250/1000 Level 0ths, meanwhile 750 are owned by the dominators.
